*** About Hispanic Heritage: Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration in the United States observed from September 15 to October 15. It is a time to honor and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The observance began as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson in 1968 and was later extended to a full month by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. It starts in the middle of September to correspond with national independence days in several Latin American countries.
